In 2011 about 1.8 billion tonnes of cane was harvested worldwide, making it one of the world’s most abundant agricultural crops. After sugar extraction, the remaining fibrous stalks are either burned or converted into pulp. Manufacturing pulp from bagasse is the more favourable end-of-life option.

The range consists of four square – 280ml, 480ml, 630ml and two rectangular containers – 750ml and 1,000ml. All are available in either unbleached natural or white with corresponding pulp lids. For cold food applications and where transparency is required clear dome recycled PET lids are available.
Unlike plastic containers, BioPak’s sugarcane pulp containers are microwave and oven safe up to 220°C. A creative locking mechanism on the lid ensures the lid stays put and the contents do not spill during transport. Another advantage of these containers is the fact that they are compostable which makes diversion of organic waste from landfill an option.
