$50k product donation to Foodbank QLD

BioPak donates $50k worth of products to Foodbank in Queensland. We are proud to help Foodbank feed over 16,000 people every day, what a great job they do!

Foodbank is a not-for-profit non-denominational organisation that supplies food relief to 300 agencies and 180 school breakfast programs. They are recognised as the largest hunger relief organisation in Queensland and help feed over 16,000 people every day.

It was first established in 1992 in NSW and now has a presence in every state and the Northern Territory with distribution centres in all state capitals as well as a number of regional centres. BioPak have also donated $8k of stock to Foodbank WA.

How it works…
Foodbank rescues edible but surplus food and groceries from the country’s farmers, manufacturers and retailers and acts as a conduit between the food industry and the welfare sector’s need. This includes product that is out of specification, close to date code, has incorrect labelling or damaged packaging as well as excess stock and deleted lines. Without Foodbank much of this food would simply go to landfill.

Acting as a pantry to the welfare Foodbank relies on the generous support local donors. We are proud to  have recently donated a number of custom printed paper coffee cups, and sugarcane plates. Grocery items such as these are extremely useful to the agencies they supply, such as the Salvation Army Moonyah, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre that runs community meals and soup kitchens to those receiving treatment.

“Being able to source items such as these from Foodbank allows us to re-direct funds to our vital programs. Thank you Biopak for your contribution!” GM, Salvation Army, Moonyah QLD

Belinda and David from Salvation Army, Moonyah are pictured above unloading their BioPak products. They are previous participants from the program who have stayed on to give back and maintain the program.
